Meet iCAN Youth Member Amanda Shoopman

Join Amanda in a special Tweet Chat as she focuses on something near and dear to her heart, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Amanda, a pediatric patient and childhood cancer surviver has been a member of iCAN Research, since 2017, when the first iCAN Research, KIDS Chapter, Childhood Cancer was formed through partnership with Live Like Bella. Amanda was able to attend the 2017 iCAN Research & Advocacy Summit in Orlando and share her passion for helping other children around the world. While currently studying for her degree in Environmental Education, Amanda has continued her focus of helping others by establishing the goal of graduating and serving children in lower socio-economic areas to teach how small improvements can lead to big change. During her Tweet Chat, Amanda will share more of her personal story that resulted in a cancer diagnosis at just 9 months old. Amanda's tumor has been treated, but she continues to work diligently through follow-up with a variety of specialists to maintain her health and prevent additional complications. As she shared, her story is reflective of many kids because even while in remission, there is an ongoing need to continue to seek medical care to remain as healthy as possible. You can hear more from Amanda by following her Twitter handle @AmandaShoopman on September 22, 2019 at 4pm EDT. Tweeting with Amanda will be partners @LillyTrials, @LiveLikeBella, and @iCANResearch. #iCANChat #iCAN #iCANMakeADifference
