COLUMBUS, Ohio - As a growing topic of concern, iCAN's KIDS Central Ohio chapter, led by Dr. Andrea Bonny, has focused on exploring the growing opioid crisis. To bring this important issue to light, KIDS Central Ohio has been organizing an opioid panel set for October 15th, 2019 at The Ohio State University (OSU) College of Pharmacy. Four expert panelists will be participating, including: Dr. Andrea Bonny (KIDS Central Ohio Advisor), Ahmed Hosni (Program Manager of OSU Collegiate Recovery), Barbara Freeman (survivor of addiction and human trafficking), and Ross Bales (former EMT now OSU medical student).
As student and member of KIDS Central Ohio, Uma Subrayan, explained, "The overall goal of this project is to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic by providing four different perspectives from individuals who play various roles in the crisis."
The opioid addiction epidemic is not just limited to the United States either. As a global crisis, and to help encourage support around the world, Subrayan further shared, "We wanted to inform you of this project in the hopes that others will be aware of the work, and we can create a meaningful dialogue on this tragic epidemic."
