With the week in full swing, it is a good time to share a few thank you's to all that have been involved with creating a robust week full of fun and learning about pediatric clinical research, innovation, science, technology, and medicine.
We are so happy to have been able to share the voice of our guest speakers from around the world including; Dr. Anthony Chang from AIMED, Dr. Barbara Bierer at MRCT, and Dr. Goza and Dr. Beers from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Tom Porter from Unicef stopped by to chat about his work and we had Dr. Sharon Smith and her KIDS CT team present some general medical knowledge. Other speakers included patient advocate Taylor Kane and Leanne West led two panels on Covid-19 and What Kids Wish Doctors Knew, all riveting discussions. Our iCAN poster session shared insights of the great work being done through each of our chapters and our KIDS Uganda Chapter even provided a video of their home to help us better learn about their efforts to improve care. KIDS Albania Youth Member, Henri Olldashi shared a multi-lingual thank you to the front lines video and KIDS Georgia and ICAN Youth Leader, Ananya Ganesh, along with the iCAN Youth Council, led a session on writing our first-ever "I CAN" book.
Our gratitude continues as each day, a youth member has shared their personal story of what iCAN means to them. By openly sharing their story and expertise, we know that the summit has been a learning experience for all of our community and sponsoring partners. Our mission remains committed to foster greater global understanding about the importance of the pediatric patient and caregiver voice in healthcare, clinical trials, and research. While we are unable to be together in-person, our hope is that our Virtual #iCANSummit2020 provides a new way to continue the learning and support that kids and families need and deserve.
In addition, we want to thank the iCAN Board of Directors, the Advisory Board, not only for creating a beautiful and thoughtful video - led by iCAN Youth Sarah Fletcher - and also, for taking time to attend the first BOD and AB meeting. Thank you to all of our iCAN Chapter leaders for sharing ideas throughout the week, and the International Society for Pediatric for hosting a session on Innovation Inequalities.
All of this has been made possible through support by our Champion Sponsor, Jumo Health along with our Warrior Sponsor, Pfizer. In addition, we are thankful for our Guardian Sponsors, Eli Lilly, UCB, Pediatric Trials Network (PTN), and Covance. We are also grateful for the support of Protector Sponsors, Shriner's Hospital and AAP Soatt. Special thank you to our Patron Sponsors, WorldWide Clinical Trials, DivvyUp, and Children's HealthCare of Atlanta. Several of our sponsors created meaningful iCAN Youth Member focus groups and workshops to better help support pediatric clinical research, innovation, and healthcare. Those sponsors included: Jumo Health, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, UCB, and Covance. We are so thankful for their hard work and dedication to pediatric patient-centered care.
Most importantly, we want to thank our new community partner, GlobalCast MD - and the wonderful work done by Hannah, Ted, Jon, and Steve throughout the week. Thank you for capturing the heart of iCAN - our youth members - and helping us develop a beautiful presentation for all of our kids. Your creativity was amazing!
As we close out the week of the iCAN 2020 Summit, we invite you to join us on Friday, July 17th, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., to participate as KIDS France presents details on the #iCAN2021Summit as well as to meet our special celebrity guest, Pete Dankleson, a guitarist and owner of Petesdiary.com. We will also have a great learning session with Eli Lilly and a visit from our KIDS Uganda Chapter. To register and to receive log-in information, visit: https://www.icanresearch.org/2020-summit
To finish, while we are so grateful for all that created sessions and shared their voices, we are most thankful for all of YOU - everyone that attended, commented, sent emails, or shared support through social media, as each of you
truly made this week the best yet. We loved seeing our youth members reconnect with lost friends as well as the great synergy that bubbled up through the sharing of new and exciting ideas. Our community is invigorated and ready to do even more to help kids around the world - and it is all because of you. Thank you for being a part of iCAN!
